Taking photographs enables me to see the world, and observe my surroundings in life frame by frame.

My eyes are always seeing the world in images. I find myself fascinated with taking photographs of people. We are beings that are constantly changing, and in motion. I equally have a passion for urban living, and the pulse of city life. Some of my most exciting work has taken place in cities, especially New York, Paris, Beirut and Istanbul. Camera in hand, I connect to people by capturing them while they are in the middle of living their lives, absorbed in their activities, and they inspire me.

My candid photography, has morphed into my becoming a street photographer. I love people, I am energized by their faces, and the exchange of kindness when I reach out to take their photograph. I am a witness to a small moment in time, and grateful that my camera can capture this. In some of my work, I love using art and doorways as back drops to my photographs of people. It is my way of telling a story, and blending the more urban landscape; museums, doors, parks, designs inside stores, with the inhabitants of that community.

In contrast to my being drawn to cities and taking photos of people, I am also drawn to taking nature photography. I am a keen observer of nature, and have a deep respect for how much beauty it beholds. Nature is always changing as well. Over the past few years, in the early springtime, I take photos of the voluptuous Japanese peonies blooming in my garden. These vibrant flowers have become one of my nature themes.

Another nature theme of mine that I enjoy photographing, is the way light and water interact, and how light is ever changing. I have rich opportunities to explore this on my trips to the Caribbean, and in the ever changing tides near my home in New York. Even in the winter, when one would expect ice to remain static, it is always shape shifting and is an endless source of joy and curiosity to behold.

My projects as a photographer have varied from large events at the United Nations International School, the International Preschools, and photographing Cindy Lauper in the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center, to more community oriented spaces. I've had the privilege of photographing weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvah’s and Christenings. I've done numerous more intimate photos shoots of families, portraits of children, and some sports photography.

One of the greatest gifts of being a photographer is how varied the life before my lens can be. From the world of portraiture, to the action of martial arts, to photo shoots for Antigone Rising at the fundraiser event for GirlsRising, I always encounter people who are kind, and I feel passionate about documenting such a wide variety of events.

In recent years, I have also been given the wonderful opportunity to exhibit some of my favorite images, at Grassroots and Brooks Brothers. This February 2019 I will have a photography show at the Creative Arts Studio, in Sea Cliff, at their pop up art gallery.

My education and work experience through the years is as follows: While I was a student, at Boston University, I started to work as a reporter for the B.U. Press. After I graduated I worked at LIFE Magazine in New York, in their photo archives in syndication, and as an assistant to their photography gallery department.

Following my time at LIFE Magazine, I worked as an Associate Producer in documentary work and television commercials. I returned to syndication work at the Los Angeles Times Syndicate before becoming an independent freelance photographer, which has been my vocation for nearly 20 years. Throughout the years, I have studied filmmaking, photography, and writing. I have taken courses at the School of Visual Arts, NYU Film School of Continuing Education, and The International Center of Photography, and participated in Southhampton’s Summer Writer’s Program at Stony Brook University.

My worked is always evolving and changing, just like I am. I hope I can always interact with people and places through my photography.
